Extension of 3 locks in Limburg, The Netherlands

Lievense is commissioned by Besix to participate in a Design & Construct project for the extension of 3 locks in the river ‘Maas’. The locks in Born, Maasbracht and Heel have a fall of 6 to 12m and need to be extended and renovated to be able to lock ships up to CEMT Vb. For the tender design Lievense is responsible for the integration of all design activities; civil works, mechanical works and electrical/ installation works. The civil work design, including the lock extension, new lock entrances and upgrading of existing lock walls, is carried out by Lievense.
